TSC TryAthlon

TSC TryAthlon is a project delivered by TSC Sports and Dance Coaching which aims to get everyone moving as you work together to achieve a 'whole school' target of running 662km over the academic year.

Every step matters, so we'll be encouraging everyone in your school family to get involved - pupils, teachers, support staff and families - and if you send us your weekly score we'll plot your progress on the TSC TryAthlon map so that everyone can see how you're getting on.

The project has been designed to get groups supporting each other as they try to achieve their own personal and collective best score each week. It can be used as a motivation tool and as an intra school competition and we would love you to embrace the project and share it with your whole school community through your own twitter account (use the hashtag #tsctryathlon when posting your news).

As the school clicks up the kilometres, you will call in at some of the contry's most famous sporting venues and you can download the teaching resources as you arrive at each location. These lesson plans and fact sheets will introduce pupils to major role models from each of the sports, will give you some fun ideas for games you can play and will also help you to find out how to get involved in that sport in your community.

At the end of the year we'll add up the scores from all of the schools taking part and see how far we can get by working together! Enjoy the journey and remember...The harder you TRY the further you'll go!

Marketing support This is a healthy initiative that has the potential to get your whole school community moving towards a common goal, so the more support you give it the more sucessful it will be. Here's a few ways you can let people know.

Letter to engage your school community - copy and past this text onto your school letterhead	Our school is taking part in TSC TryAthlon 2016. Each week we will run a 3 minute relay and over the year we will be tracking how far the school has travelled along the official 662km virtual TryAthlon route. There are 6 sporting venues on the way and as we arrive at each we’ll be looking at the sport, meeting some of the key role models and looking at how people can get involved in the sport in our area. We’re hoping that we can get our whole school community involved in this healthy activity as every metre travelled counts towards our total, so let us know if you have a group (parents, dinnertime supervisors, governors etc) who would like to get involved and take part in one of our 3 minute relays. Watch out for news of how far we’ve travelled through out Twitter and Facebook feeds and through the school website.

Twitter & Facebook	Send out a regular tweet and Facebook news to let your followers know how you are doing... School website & newsletter	Most people look on school website for information now, so why not add a page for TSC TryAthlon and share you news with pictures of all of the groups running their relays?
Class competition	Although this initiative is about a whole school working towards a common target that doesn't stop you making it competitive internally - which class travels the furthest over the week/month/year could be the basis of a reward system in school and could help you really engage your class teachers.

We've provided an excel spreadsheet for you to record your TSC TryAthlon group scores each week. This will calculate a running total for each group and an aggragate school for your school. Remember, it would be fantastic if your wider school community took part, so why not have a column for teachers, one for support staff and even one for governors?

This project is provided to our parnter schools as part of the TSC service, but for all other schools who would like to get involved the package costs £200.00 (ex VAT) - this includes A2 poster, 250 tokens, access to lesson plans and resources and your progress will be added to the online TSC TryAthlon map.
